Hello my crafty friends and happy Friday! Are we as happy or happier to be seeing 2021 in the rearview mirror? I think I feel rather ambivalent. While 2020 and 2021 has seen many changes in my life, I do believe I have seen many wonderful changes in 2021 and that I am rather okay to see it go and look forward to what further changes may come in 2022. I am happy to participate once again in another blog hop as a Guest Designer for Altenew with their Year-End Celebration Release and had so much fun with these cards dies.
I had so much fun with this set and with my clean and simple style, it was so quick and easy to make these items. Tags have been my new fascination lately and I will confess, I have bought every set of tag items that everyone has made this year. When Altenew came out with the Decorative Tag set, I jumped on it as I could see so much I could do with it.
For my Hugs tag card, I love this card because you can give the card to a person and then they could re-use the card or they could take the tag off and just use the tag if they wanted to. However, to get even more out of my products and tools, in case you did not know, you can use your regular dies to foil as well. While I would not recommend using them on a regular basis or even to make a large batch of cards, I would say you are safe to use them every now and then for this which is what I did with the Rose Decorative tag die. I ran this die through my Glimmer machine with gold foil and some of the new purple blends paper. I then ran it through my die cutting machine for my lovely tag. I then used the "Hugs" die from the Simple Greeting Die set and popped the sentiment up off the tag. I tied a bow from the tag using some spare ribbon I had laying around and affixed the tag to a card base.
Next for my Thank You tag, I took a tag die from the Terrific Tags die set to make the base of my tag from a blue piece of paper from the Blends paper. I then cut out the Leaf tag from the Decorative die set. I had a flower and some leaves left over from a layer set I had used for another project (I tend to just put extra items in a cup on my desk and pull them out of the cup when I need some extra decoration on a project) and I glued these to the top of my tag. Using gold metallic cardstock from Brutus Monroe, I used only the "Thank You" from a line from the Slim Sentiments Die set. I tied the two tags together again, with extra ribbon I had sitting around my house (yes, I do have a large collection of ribbon in my house in a bucket). So simple and quick.
The next new set today is the Mega Stamp Frame set. I love all die sets that have a postage stamp look to it and I feel they are so versatile. This set comes with two frame and some sentiments. The one item I feel we as crafters do not use enough and maybe even struggle with is washi tape. I know I say this A LOT, but I love to buy washi tape but I struggle to use it. Now, I do love to color and in case you do not know, Altenew has a washi tape, Botanical Rhapsody, and it is simply black and white and you can color it. Ok, maybe I should say I colored it with colored pencils and I have not tried any other medium for this. Then I cut the postage stamp die out of silver metallic cardstock from Brutus Monroe and popped it up with foam tape. The more challenging part was to cut the delicate "miss you" out of cardstock, pop it up on foam and glue it down. However, it was so worth it in the end.
My final card I used the Balloon Bunch 3D Folder and ran it through my Big Shot with just a white piece of cardstock. I then sprayed by embossed sheet with Ocean Wave Misting Spray. Once this dried, I cut out the Fancy Yay die using the Glitter Pack in Ocean color and popped this up with foam and glued it down.
All of these cards were fun and easy to make. I work all week and so I either craft when I get home in the evening or I take a day on the weekend to get my crafting done and "try" to stay on top of everything and so I hope these cards help you to find time to make something similar as I see on may posts people say they do not have time to craft. You can make something wonderful without a lot of time.
